Donald Trump’s rallies are basically like a well-rehearsed but stale circus sideshow. No matter where it pitches its tattered orange tent smelling of rancid popcorn and tired fried food, the act remains the same, night after night, city after city.
Attend a Trump rally once and you’ll never need to attend another one because nothing ever changes from show to show: Lock her up! Build the wall! The fake news media is picking on me! Best economy in all of recorded history! I don’t know any Russians! All my enemies are your enemies, too!
Trump lately has seemed to shift his focus away from Hillary Clinton to trash-talk other women, but she still pops up from time to time in his rants, and the sycophants still chuckle, clap gleefully, and repeat after their Mango Mussolini, “Lock her up!!! LOL!!!!”
What’s amusing about Trump’s continued Hillary-hating and never-ending fixation on her is that some interesting news emerged lately about Mrs. Clinton; news that rather dilutes the entire “Lock her up!” mantra. U.S. Attorney John Huber, tasked by the Justice Department with digging up any and all dirt on Clinton, has closed his investigation after more than two years, citing “no tangible results.”
You read that right — after years of Trump, his administration, his family and his fellow Republicans in Congress spreading smear stories about Uranium One, the Clinton Foundation, and even But Her Emails yet again, Trump’s own investigator has called it a day and shut things down. Shades of “Obama wiretapped me!”, right?
Huber’s conclusion of his investigation has no doubt irritated Trump and other Republicans, who had long hoped to haul Clinton into court… in chains, no doubt, to appease the ravening mob that has bought into the entire Hillary Is The Antichrist tall tale.
Donald Trump has many people he perceives as enemies. He delights in taunting them with accusations of illegal, immoral or unethical conduct (often long discounted), coarse schoolyard insults and crude nicknames. However, he seems to single out women in particular for this type of treatment. One could almost write an encyclopedia of Trump’s nasty comments to and about women.
In a May 1991 Esquire magazine profile, Trump had this to say about his recent bad press: “You know, it really doesn’t matter what they write as long as you’ve got a young and beautiful piece of ass. But she’s got to be young and beautiful.”
“You’re disgusting.” Trump hurled this jab at a female lawyer, who, during a deposition involving Trump, asked for a medical break to pump breast milk for her 3-month-old daughter.
When talking to CNN’s Don Lemon in June of 2017, he said this about Megan Kelly: “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever.”
He insulted New York Times columnist Gail Collins, sending her one of her columns, in which she called him a “financially embattled thousandaire,” with her picture circled and a note saying, “The Face of a Dog.”
In a 2005 radio interview, Trump said he didn’t change diapers because it’s the wife’s job. In fact, he said he wouldn’t marry a woman who expected this of him. “There’s a lot of women out there that demand that the husband act like the wife and you know there’s a lot of husbands that listen to that,” Trump said.
During the third and final 2016 presidential debate, minutes after stating that “nobody respects women more than I do,” Trump sneered, “such a nasty woman” into the mic as Clinton talked through policy points about social security.
There is more, much more, but you get the point. Trump has always looked down on women. His outright hatred of Hillary Clinton is understandable in that she has always epitomized the strong, free-thinking female who has risen to power and success in male-dominated society, and who is definitely not afraid to call a spade a spade.
Hatred, not credible allegations of wrongdoing, was the germ of Trump’s investigation into Clinton. Unfortunately, Huber’s exoneration of Hillary Clinton will at best temporarily mute Trump’s use of her name as a trigger phrase at his rallies.
Donald Trump’s world is one of hatred, lies and retribution. Facts mean nothing to him, so it’s just a matter or time before the crowds once again chant, “Lock her up!” as he grins in approval.
